Fun to relive our Olympic moments with fellow ski enthusiasts.  Thank you for thinking of asking me to present to the Tay Valley ski club.  Dirk and I really had a good time.  Don’t normally get to present together.  fun.
Look forward to joining you on the trails this winter.  Cheers to tons of snow !

They are past international whitewater canoe champions. Their winter passion is cross country skiing. In particular, they have been a major factor in building the Nakkertok Ski Club to one of the top clubs in Canada. They are past participants in the Tay Valley Loppet. Dirk and (helper Claudia) were selected to lead the grooming crew for all the Cross Country events at the Vancouver Olympics.

Claudia will give a talk and brief video presentation on her behind the scenes Olympic experience.

Also on the program will be an explanation of the details of the Club’s plans for a refurbished Jack Rabbit Program for children learning to ski. New Jack Rabbit leaders and instructors have recently been recruited. Club Vice-President Drew Lampman will be joined by swimmer Nancy Sweetnam, well known Commonwealth Gold Medalist and two-time Olympian, as well as Brian Rauwerda and youth coordinator Geoff Hodgins, to describe their plans.

The Youth Program was given a boost this past year thanks to a grant to purchase new ski equipment from the Perth and District Community Foundation. A representative from the PDCF will be on hand to receive thanks from the club for their generosity.

Attendees will have an opportunity to purchase their 2011-12 membership, giving them unlimited skiing access to our beautifully groomed trails at Murphy’s Point Provincial Park for the entire ski season. Rates this year are $60 for a Family, $45 for an Individual and $25 for a Student, however all memberships purchased at the AGM or before will be reduced by $5.

Join us on Monday, November 7 for an evening of cross country ski-focused information, refreshments, fun and friendship. For more information, go to the Club website at http://tayvalleyskiclub.wordpress.com/ or contact Club Secretary Brad Mills at 267-5967.
