President’s Remarks

In bringing a close to our club’s skiing activities, President Don Boyle wished to share the following thoughts with Board Members, Active Volunteers and the membership at large.

“Many thanks for all your various contributed efforts which helped insure a successful ski seaon in spite of the wide variety of snow conditions.

From my viewpoint all those who undertook organizational responsibilities carried these out reliably and effectively. Although the Loppet did not take place, the organization was totally set to go. Unfortunately the one uncooperative party was the weather. Our grooming team made the best of every opportunity to provide the best quality trails under often difficult circumstances. When measured by the number of participants and the variety of activities, the several youth programs with which the Club was involved were more successful than any in the recent past. Particularly satisfying were the Cliub’s involvement through the efforts of its members in the Super Kids in the Park (SKIP) project run by the Friends of MUrphys Point Park, in the evolution and development of the PDCI Ski Team and in providing a venue for the elementary school ski competitions.

Financial and other administrarive matters including  items relating to internal and external communication are well in hand. Cooperation from Park Staff continues to be excellent.
Treasurer Beth Gaham reports that Club enrolment currently stands at more than 133.This figure is composed of 55 family and 24 individual memberships. This overall number does not show the significant # of child and youth members.

All this is accomplished through the much appreciated commitment of all of you. This greatly simplifies my task of coordination. I trust that you are finding, as I am, that many collaborative hands make all  our efforts  enjoyable and gratifying.

Looking forward to next season, I have already circulated a  “consultation memo” to our board members designed to promote discussion and input towards future planning. Secretary Frank Roy will be circulating this same memo to the membership by e-mail and inviting their comments and opinions to add to the pot. It is my intention to hold an OPEN Board Meeting in the second half of May when the Board and those members interested enough to join us can review the results of this and make the appropriate decisions for next year’s operations.”
