The 38th Annual Tay Valley Loppet

Sunday, January 30, 2011

Fifty-six skiers gathered from near and far at Murphy’s Point Provincial Park for a day of fun and keen but friendly competition. The trails were in superb condition, the weather was mid-winter perfect and spirits were high.

Check out the results and photos on our Tay Valley Loppet page.

Competitors came from as far away as Deep River and Aurora. They ranged in age from 7 to 77 and competed in events from 2 to 18 km in length.

Following the races, everyone enjoyed hot home-made chili and much camaraderie in the Clubhouse where the awards were presented and several draw-prizes were won.

The winners of the main event, the 18 km Loppet which is part of the Ontario Master points series, were Charlotte Knight of Ottawa in a time of 1hr 16 min 52 sec and Erik Petersen of Rockland in a lightning time of 1hr 30 sec.

Mark your calendars now and start training for the 39th edition , which will be held at about the same time next year.
