39th Annual Well Attended

The 39th Annual General Meeting of the Ski Club was well attended and went off without a hitch. Check  out the official Minutes of the 2011 AGM .  A membership table was set up and a number of people took advantage of the $5. discount by registering before or at the meeting.

Brad, Ray and Beth took in Memberships

The meeting got underway at 7:00 pm on the dot and after a brief business

meeting of committee reports and elections, moved on to further agenda items.

President Don Boyle introduced a distiguished visitor, Ron Thornbury of the Perth and District Community Foundation. Frank Roy welcomed Ron to the meeting and thanked him on behalf of the Club for the $2000.00  which the Foundation granted to the Club in support of our Youth Development Program.  Details of this item may be followed at www.pdcf.ca/whats-new.htm#ski.

The feature of the evening were the guest speakers Claudia and Dirk van Wijk who gave a very interesting run down of their experience as track grooming volunteers at to 2010 Winter Olympics.

As a followup to her presentation,  Claudia sent the following to the Club:

Fun to relive our Olympic moments with fellow ski enthusiasts.  Thank you for thinking of asking me to present to the Tay Valley ski club.  Dirk and I really had a good time.  Don’t normally get to present together.  fun.
Look forward to joining you on the trails this winter.  Cheers to tons of snow !
