Ski Club Fund Raiser – The GinzuGroomer

Dear Cross Country Skiers and community members.

We have a dream of being able to ski more days with better snow conditions at Murphys Point Provincial Park.
The Tay Valley Cross Country Ski club, a non-profit organization which has been in existence since 1973, is embarking on a mission to raise money to purchase some new equipment to complement our current grooming equipment. Our existing Tidd Tech drag groomer has served us well over a number of years but struggles with refreshing the compacted snow (and occasional ice crust) into the smooth carpet our members l
Our dedicated team of researchers has found us an instrument to cut through the crust and compacted snow. The Ginzu Groomer.
Last year our Chief Groomer and some of his assistants had the opportunity to visit the Kanata Nordic Club and watch them turn the compacted snow in a parking lot into usable trails in one pass. This equipment was also used in multiple Olympic winter games including Vancouver. In fact, we have obtained a personal invite from the Head Groomer of the Vancouver Games to come and learn how to best operate this equipment.
The Club has been saving money for a number of years for capital equipment upgrades and replacements. We have saved $4,000 on the way to the $8,000 target budget. This budget includes the equipment, shipping and necessary modifications to the Park Skandic snowmobile. We hope to raise the necessary funds to have this equipment available to use this upcoming season.
We are asking club members and other interested sponsors to consider donating funds to improve the conditions we all enjoy.
Please consider contributing to improve the snow conditions of the ski trails and your health when you come use them with us. Contributions can be made out to Tay Valley Cross Country Ski Club and mailed to Club Treasurer – Denise Guerin at 134 Cats Cove, Perth, On. K7H 3C7.
